High Five for Friday

Happy Friday!  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my High Five for Friday.

1.  I am extremely nervous and excited for this upcoming weekend.  I am going tent camping for the first time with Lee.  Eeeeeck!  (Yes you are reading that right.  First time.)  My parents are not the outdoorsy kind (unless you count playing golf and mowing the yard.)  I may have slept in a tent one time at Church Camp but I'm not counting that.  It was just one night and I was steps away from the cabin.  Don't get me wrong I have gone 'camping' before.  Like in a cabin, with electricity and running water.  Even spent a week in Canada doing so.  (Had a wonderful time but came home with pneumonia.  That's a story for another day.)  I do love the great outdoors.

Canada 2008.  Janelle, Me, Lee, and Joel.

So why start camping now?  Well we wanted to go someplace affordable and different.  For me I wanted a beach.  And Lee was open to any suggestions.  I had heard about the Indiana Dunes but never been there before.  (Northern Indiana is kind of a mystery to me.  Never spent any real time in the 'Region' or there a bouts.)  We both started researching and decided upon Indiana Dunes State Park.  We found a campsite available and it was booked.  Lee has been camping lots before so we have a good start on supplies.  All I really had to buy was a blow up bed (remember I have a bad back) and a chair.  Saturday we are going to get all our supplies together and do a little shopping.  I have already mapped out things and made several packing lists.  (Those event planner skills always coming in handy.)
Don't you just love a good list?!

Bless Lee's heart, he's agreed to take this girly, city girl into the great outdoors.  I hope he does realize I will just be sitting back relaxing in my pink camping chair, watching him do all the work.  (Ha-ha, I kid!)  I am looking forward to going off the grid and relaxing on the beach.  Wish me luck!  3 nights and 4 days of camping.  Please don't let it rain.  Please let the bathrooms be clean.

2.  My kit cats have been extra cute this week.  Don't ya think?

Excuse me Baby Kitty.  That is my drink!

Diva Sabrina

She loves a good sunbath.
3. On Thursday I won a $10 Starbucks and $10 Barnes and Noble gift cards from fellow bloggers September Farm and Tealaholic.  I spent the Starbucks one right away ;-)

I won a major award!!!!!!

Iced White Chocolate Mocha.  Ummm I was bouncing off the walls the rest of the day.

4.  If you remember, last week I mentioned my adorable niece is on a summer swim team.  Mom was able to go to a meet this week and watch her swim.  Isn't she the cutest?!

Seeing her swim is bringing back memories of my days on the swim team.  I found an old 'yearbook' and thought I would share some pictures of me and my brother Andy.  1989.  I was 9.  Andy just turned 7.  #babies

Newburgh, Indiana
The team.  Andy is bottom right.  I'm in the middle in the back.  Just look for the bangs and big eyes.
Terrible picture but that is Andy in the middle.

That is me.  I was a killer diver and flip turner.  Self taught.

5.  Some of my family members were involved in a car accident earlier this week.  Hit a deer.  This isn't a high of the week, but the fact that they are all ok IS.  Did a lot of damage to the car and could have been much worse.  Luckily the driver attended Megan's Driving School back when she was a teenager, so she knew what to do ;-)  All kidding aside I am so grateful everyone is okay.

What I'm Watchin Wednesday: Wentworth

Hello!  And welcome to another episode of 'What I'm Watchin Wednesday!'  As I have predicted in a previous blog post, my Netflix subscription has turned into an addiction.  I have been binge watching lately.  (My poor DVR is backed up.)  After I finished up Orange is the New Black, I was having withdrawals!  When I was visiting my friend Ryan, he suggested I watch a show called Wentworth.

Wentworth Season 2 cast
Haven't ever heard of Wentworth?  Well that could be because it is an Australian series.  Seems to have been a huge hit there and eventually found its way to Netflix.  While I am not familiar with the stars of the show, I have to tell you the acting is fantastic.  Just amazing.  Wentworth was produced and aired long before Orange is the New Black came on the scene.  I will tell you that there are a lot of similarities between the two shows.  (Guess it goes to show the same drama happens in prisons all over the world.)  Wentworth is a little more gritty and hardcore.  (By that I mean more fighting, blood, guts.)  It shows more of what happens with the family and friends who are on the outside.  Goes more in depth with the guards (screws as the prisoners call them).

Bea Smith (aka Red) is sent to prison for attempting to murder her abusive husband.  She soon learns that prison is nothing like she expected and there is a divide amongst the inmates.  It is all about whose group you belong to.  Bea begins to make friends and enemies pretty quickly.  Just because these ladies are locked up, doesn't mean they don't have connections to the outside world.  They are able to make things happen that turn Bea's world upside.  She goes from being the good girl to one tough cookie.  Without giving too much away, let me just say the last 2 episodes of season 2 had me on the edge of my seat.  Can't wait for season 3!

If I start talking with an Australian accent and calling you mate, this is why :-)  Also, may I suggest you turn your closed caption option on your Netflix settings when viewing Wentworth.  Sometimes it does get hard to understand the accent when they are talking fast.

Season 1 and 2 of Wentworth are now available on Netflix.

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday to you!  Are you ready for the weekend?  I believe it is going to rain all weekend here in Indianapolis.  Remnants of Tropical Storm Bill.  Dangit Bill!  You are always busting my chops!  And quite frankly you are kind of annoying.  But thanks for keeping my car clean.  (FYI my Dad's name is Bill.  This is kind of directed at him, too.)  Here are the top 5 things from the last couple of weeks.

1.  In case you live under a rock, Orange is the New Black (OITNB) came out last Friday.  I was home in Ohio with the family and decided I could wait to start the binge watching until I returned home.  My 5 year old niece asked if she could watch it with me.  Ummmmmmmmm let me think about that for 1 second.  NO!  I won't even let my Mom watch it!  Once my OITNB binge watching buddy Lee gave me the green light to go ahead, I looked around and saw my nieces were gone on Sunday.  Mom and Dad were watching the Cavs game, so off I went.  I finished Tuesday night.......Whoops!  It just happened.  It is that addicting.  Can't wait for season 4 to come out in a year................................

2.  Last weekend I found myself in Norwalk visiting my family.  Mom and Dad were going to have the nieces all weekend and it was the week before Father's Day.  I decided why not?

Big sis, little sis.  Monkey see, Monkey do.
I just die of too much adorableness when I see this face!
She looks exactly like her Daddy!  It freaks me out sometimes.  They are twins.  #bigforeheadsunite
I promised her something here if she would smile nicely.  Must have been worth it.  LOL.
Yogurt face
Swimming.  First of all, I am getting BURNED to a crisp in this picture.  Never mind that I have 50spf on.  That's Baby K just jumping right off in the deep end to me.  NO FEAR that one!  NONE!  K#1 is an excellent swimmer.  More on that to come.

3.  My sister in law took these pictures.  So sorry Stacey!  I just had to share.  She is SOOOO adorable!  I can't stand it.  K#1 is on the local swim team in Norwalk.  She is the youngest member.  Her Aunt Erin is the coach.  She had her first swim meet on Thursday.  Swam the whole length of the pool.  I was so proud when I saw the video!  Mom, Dad, and all K#1's Aunts are swimmers.  It is in her blood.

Eat my bubbles
4.  Two weekends ago I went to visit my friend Ryan in southern Indiana.  He was dog/cat sitting for my Aunt and Uncle.  (I know small world, huh!)  I needed to get away from the city, get some fresh air, and enjoy some good company.

Pond in their backyard

This is Franklin.  Frank as I like to call him.  It was my first time meeting him.  He gets a little nervous when meeting new people but once he gets to know you, it is all over.  He is such a sweetheart.  We played ball outside and snuggled on the couch together.  I think Ryan may have gotten a little jealous!  LOL.
Of course whenever I am there I have to go to this Amish Store that is right outside town.  I hadn't been there for several years and was pleasantly surprised it had doubled in size.  I got lots of goodies.  Bread, Amish butter, horseradish cheese just to name a few things.  Ryan got us some delicious donuts.  It has a deli, too so I got a garlic bologna sandwich.  Oh was it good!

On Sunday Ryan and I decided to go to Ikea in West Chester, Ohio.  If you haven't gone before, I highly recommend it.  It is a HUGE home goods warehouse with very affordable prices.  It can be overwhelming at times but it is hard to come out empty handed.

That is my bag full of stuff and a TV stand that Ryan bought.  GoGo Kia Soul!
My bag of goodies.  I don't like pink or anything.

5.  And to end on a funny note......Mom sent this text earlier in the week and said, "Gary is having a bad hair day."  That is our nickname for Baby K.  As in Gary Busey.

Girlfriend can't help it.  Went to bed with wet hair, has curly hair, and the humidity!  She's so darn cute!

Hope that you have a fantastic weekend!!!!!  Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.  To read my Father's Day blog post from last year, go here.  I love my Dad something fierce!

Five for Friday

TGIF!!  It is finally Friday!!!  Do you have any big weekend plans?  Not me.  Here are Five things from my Memorial Day long weekend home in Norwalk, Ohio.

1.  Where to start?  Let me just go in order of all my pictures.  This stud muffin is my BFF-forever Ryan.  We have been friends for 15 years.  Roommates in college.  We are more like family now.  For some reason he loves to go visit my parents in Norwalk.  Crazy kid!  This is Ryan and Bailey, my parents new rescue cocker spaniel.  She is absolutely the sweetest thing.  Loves everyone and everything.  Ryan was no exception.  My parents got so bent out of shape because she slept with me the first night we were there.  Cuddled right up next to me.  Smothered me in kisses.  She is the BEST!

Ryan's new buddy, Bailey
2.  Have you ever heard of the show Parenthood?  It recently ended and Mom and I were big fans.  One of the stars named Monica Potter, opened a home goods store in her hometown of Garrettsville, Ohio.  Mom wanted to go visit so we made the 1.5 drive to the far, far east side of Cleveland.

Monica Potter has a blog called Mrs. Potter.  She has all kinds of fun tips and of course online shopping.  The store is literally in the middle of nowhere.  (Hello Amish country!)  We were slightly disappointed in our trip.  And especially the customer service.  We did find a few things to purchase though.  On the way home we stopped at an amazing Amish bakery, so the trip wasn't a complete bust.

It was a beautiful day.
The Monica Potter Store
Monica was not there that day.

Mom shopping away.

I spent a lot of time in the hair accessory area.  I got the bottom right white lace headband.  I really liked some of the others but with my big head they came flying off.  No joke!  LOL!  The one I got ties in the back.

3.  On our trip home from Monica Potter store and Amish country, we drove back along Lake Erie.  Ryan is obsessed with the water.  We stopped at a little park and took some pictures.  It was a beautiful evening and a nice drive home with the windows down looking at all the BIG lake houses along the shore.

Lake Erie
Got to work on Mom's picture taking skills.  Chest up and no concrete barriers.  LOL

4.  Nieces, nieces, nieces.  I don't think I need to say anymore than that.
My heart absolutely melts over her.  She told me, 'I just love you, Meggie.'  Puddle on the floor.
Gammy finally got an ole fashion umbrella stroller at Target.  The girls had more fun playing with it than their toys.
Baby K LOVES when you read her books.  Grandpa happily agreed.
Can you even handle this?  FASHIONISTA!  A onesie, sunglasses, high heels, and her $1 mirror from Pier 1.
Because she lets me take pictures of her when I say silly faces!
Baby K is very easily entertained.  No need for fancy toys.  Lava rocks from the landscaping will do.
This picture is terribly blurry because 1.5 yr olds don't hold still.  This baby doll fell into Gammy's cart at Target.  She carried her everywhere.
Again blurry.  But Aunt Meggie and Great Aunt Sally curls live on!  I apologize in advance Baby K.
She took this picture after her nap.  She is such a cuddle monster after she wakes up.
5.  The day after I got home from the long weekend, these 2 things happened.

Facetiming at lunch time.  I missed them already!

Eating everything in sight.  Oh Baby K.
Funny story about Baby K here.  We were asking her, 'Where is Grandpa?'  Trying to get her to say 'golf'.  Well instead out comes, 'Who knows?'  All 4 of us started laughing hysterically.  That's her Daddy's smart attitude.

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought her back.  BTW she is fine.  It was like 2 minutes.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!

I'm linking up with September Farm, for Five for Friday.
